Here's what you need to know about FROX - the fashion
assault coming up on Friday night:
It's a fashion show. It's street theatre. It's controlled
chaos. It's rock 'n' roll.
And it's happening underground in the CityCentre parkade.
On the runway: clothes you won't find in stores, designed by
24 talented young men and women with a flair for fashion, a penchant for
promotion, and a check-this-out approach to style. From Concrete and Stanley
Carroll, special spring collections targeted to the young and the restless.
Spinning disks: three of the city's top DJs, each of whom
boasts his own fan following in the city. Simon Locke and Marcus, steady
players on the rave scene around town, spin out a mix of hip hop, reggae,
industrial and techno, while Locks Garant - whom Stanley Carroll calls
"one of the best dance music DJs in the city" - told FROX organizers
he'll be spinning Fattest Garage, House, and Acid Jazz while models from Mode
International rock it up on the runway.
Three DJs, three different musical flavors, one great show.
For one night only, FROX turns an underground parkade into
an underground world peopled with colorful characters, sonic sounds and
happening fashion. FROX is big-ticket talent for small-ticket prices.
Tickets for the Friday event are on sale now at The Journal,
Concrete in CityCentre, Stanley Carroll on Whyte, Propaganda Hair and at
Myoptical in HUB Mall at the U of A. They cost $10, one dollar of which goes to
benefit Ronald McDonald House.
McDonald's is coming underground with four different kinds
of free pizza for FROX ticket holders.
The fashion press will be there. Buyers from city stores
will be, too. In fact, anyone with an interest in a show that departs from
mainstream fashion formulas will be on hand.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Show at 8. CityCentre is located at 10155 102nd St. ,
one block up from The Journal building.
FROX is a no-alcohol, no-smoking event.
